Anthony is a partner in the Hodgson Russ Business Litigation Practice. He is a native Floridian who has spent his entire legal career practicing in Florida. Anthony exclusively focuses on U.S. law.

Anthony maintains a versatile litigation practice, handling complex disputes from inception through trial and appeal in state and federal courts. He represents a diverse range of clients across industries, including hospitality, technology, financial services, healthcare, real estate, and consumer goods.

Anthony assists clients in navigating high-stakes arbitrations, complex business litigation, and matters involving emerging issues such as cybersecurity and data breaches. His recent work includes defending national and multinational companies in contract, licensing, and shareholder disputes; guiding clients through commercial real estate and lease conflicts; and representing individuals and businesses in catastrophic injury, employment, construction, and vendor-related claims.

Anthony’s practical and proactive approach to litigation management consistently yields favorable results. He is known for identifying creative strategies and leverage points that position clients for success in mediation, arbitration, and trial. His experience spans defeating injunctive relief, resolving disputes through alternative forums, and prevailing in appellate courts.

Anthony’s representative matters include the following: 

  • Represented a multinational food service and hospitality company in a Florida-based arbitration before the American Arbitration Association (AAA) in defense of claims brought by a Los Angeles-based design firm and nightlife operator concerning a dispute raised under the parties’ restaurant consulting and licensing agreement for a restaurant concept constructed, opened, and operated in Disney Springs located within the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. 
  • Successfully defeated motion for preliminary injunction sought against client entity, which owns and operates baseball training facility located in Port St Lucie, Florida. 
  • Defended a mobile software application developer in a Philadelphia-based arbitration before the American Arbitration Association (AAA) in defense of claims brought by an Arizona-based entrepreneur concerning a dispute raised under the parties’ services agreement for the development of a mobile app providing engagement for meditation and intention.    
  • Currently representing a national banking association in claims brought in the Complex Business Litigation court in Miami-Dade County by a judgment creditor alleging various business torts in connection with the alleged transfer of numerous Orange Theory franchises in the Southeastern United States.  
  • Represented a wholly-owned subsidiary of a leading medical device outsourcing manufacturer in claims brought in the Middle District of Florida, asserted under the parties’ development and supply agreement. 
  • Representing family members who suffered physical and emotional damages from a catastrophic automobile accident on Interstate 95 in Broward County, Florida. 
  • Defended a global manufacturer of print and digital document products against claims concerning finance leases in Florida. 
  • Defended New York-based residential mortgage lender in breach of contract claims asserted by investor concerning dispute under parties’ mortgage loan purchase agreement and acquisition of servicing rights of distressed loans. The case was resolved at mediation. 
  • Defended a family-owned and operated equipment rental company in claims asserted by a former employee under the Fair Labor Standards Act in the Southern District of Florida, which resulted in a settlement.
  • Serving as outside counsel to a publicly-traded international chain of fast casual Tex-Mex restaurants on escalated disputes concerning commercial real estate leases in several Florida locations.
  • Represented a Canadian-based and publicly-traded cannabis-focused consumer-packaged goods distributor in defense of Section 10b-5 securities claims, vendor disputes, and licensing agreement disputes.
  • Counseled Canadian digital media producer on subpoena received in anti-competition class action pending in the Southern District of Florida. 
  • Currently defending third-party claims involving cyber-attacks and data breach incidents tendered under technology errors and omissions policies underwritten by an A.M. Best A+ rated carrier. 
  • Counseled high-net-worth individuals and companies in actions or situations concerning the purchase and sale of real property, vendor disputes, breach of restrictive covenants, eminent domain, defamation, and construction-related disputes. 
  • Successfully represented an international agriculture conglomerate as second chair in a jury trial involving contractual and quasi-contractual claims concerning logistical operations at Port Everglades.
  • Represented a nationwide retailer in a commercial tenancy dispute involving a location at Young Circle in Hollywood, Broward County, Florida, which was resolved amicably following mediation.
  • On behalf of a nationwide retailer, successfully defeated multiple motions to dismiss a DTSA and RICO lawsuit brought against over a dozen real estate entities and individuals allegedly engaged in a nationwide scheme to illicitly obtain high-performing commercial real estate properties by misappropriating trade secret and confidential information.
  • Successfully prosecuted the enforcement of a $6.650MM loan guaranty secured by a luxurious condominium in Bal Harbour, FL, on behalf of a global energy conglomerate based in the United Kingdom.
  • Obtained $1MM judgment for national loan servicer in hotly contested foreclosure action brought in Miami-Dade County, subsequently affirmed by the Florida Third District Court of Appeals in a citation opinion.
  • Secured summary judgment on Florida RICO and Criminal Practices Act claims for a securitized trust and a national loan servicer sued in Seminole County, Florida.
  • Successfully represented cashless technology provider in defense of consumer class action claims relating to product disclosures brought in Broward County Circuit Court and resolved action on favorable terms before class certification briefings.
  • Defended national lender-placed insurance carrier in federal and state court actions involving breach of contract claims cumulatively exceeding $6MM in alleged damages.  
  • Litigated a multi-billion-dollar partnership dispute concerning the proposed development of more than 40,000 acres in Central Florida as the first eco-sustainable city in the United States.
  • Obtained more than $10MM in judgments on behalf of financial institutions in contested judicial foreclosure proceedings throughout the State of Florida and coordinated loan workout negotiations with borrowers; managed mediations and conciliation conferences; and supervised short sales and negotiated property transfers of distressed properties to resolve highly contested litigation.
  • Obtained $1MM judgment for national loan servicer in hotly contested foreclosure action brought in Miami-Dade County, subsequently affirmed by the Florida Third District Court of Appeals in a citation opinion.
  • Represented a global commodities trader in recovering more than $1MM in insurance coverage against a national insurer in litigation concerning an all-risk insurance policy that covered salt reserves stored at a marine terminal in Cherbourg, France.
  • Represented national fitness chain in defense of commercial eviction proceedings in Miami-Dade County, Florida, and assisted in coordinating litigation defense in multiple jurisdictions and achieving negotiated resolutions.
  • Represented national restaurant chains in defense of website accessibility claims asserted under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and facilitating out-of-court settlements.
  • Represented real estate developer in re-foreclosure proceedings in a non-jury trial concerning a seller’s easement with respect to property for the development of a hotel south of Miracle Mile in Coral Gables, Florida.
  • Prosecuted claims on behalf of the court-appointed guardian of the heir to the Powerball winner in civil proceedings seeking compensatory and punitive damages for elderly exploitation and fraud.
  • Litigated a variety of real estate and real property disputes, including quiet title actions, contested tax deed surplus claims, title insurance disputes, partition actions, commercial tenancy disputes, and resolutions of cloud of title on behalf of financial institutions.
  • Represented financial institutions in a variety of consumer finance litigation matters in all aspects of civil litigation in federal and state court, including disputes under the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), state law unfair or deceptive acts or practices (UDAP) claims, and an assortment of common law claims.

Anthony has also devoted a portion of his practice to pro bono causes including successfully representing Eritrean and Honduran nationals in immigration removal proceedings brought before the United States Department of Justice, assisting veterans through the Mission United Veterans Pro Bono Project at Legal Aid Society of Broward County, handling matrimonial matters through the “Put Something Back” program for the Miami-Dade County Bar Association, and guiding low-income and disadvantaged citizens in the legal process through the Small Claims Clinics offered by Legal Services of Greater Miami. Anthony presently volunteers his time with the Advice Hotline administered weekly by the Legal Aid Society of Broward County and Palm Beach Legal Aid, which provides lower-income citizens with guidance on a variety of legal issues such as landlord-tenant, consumer law, pre-foreclosure, family law, probate, and guardianship.
